I Am Proud To Be An American

I am proud to be an American because William and Charles Mayo were visionaries by creating one of the most prestigious medical treatment, research, and training centers in the world, The Mayo Clinic. They believed that the sharing of information and collaboration with others in the medical field would lead to better medical treatment for all.

I am proud to be an American because Jonas Salk saved billions of lives with his safe and efficient polio vaccine.

I am proud to be an American because Elliot Joslin founded the largest diabetic research center, Joslin Diabetes Center, and pioneered the idea that those afflicted with diabetes could manage it through Diabetes Self-Management Education.

I am proud to be an American because Virginia Apgar developed the Apgar score which helps in evaluating the overall condition and health of a newborn.

I am proud to be an American because Allen Whipple developed an effective pancreatic cancer operation and also encouraged Virginia Apgar to go into medicine and pursue the study of anesthesiology.

Why are you proud to be an American?
